Press Response has been annoying

You thought I was done with the female Doctor, didn't you?
Well, I have found another thing to moan about
This is also a pre-written post as will future posts for a while, these are all done in one go. Can't tell you internet dwellers why but there we go.

My moan this time is the press regarding concerned fans as sexist and time for them to move into the 21st century. I mean its bad enough being labelled sexist but even more so by people who don't know what they are talking about. For half the fandom being alienated by the press it is really disrespectful. As for "moving into the 21st century" as I have said before Doctor Who is not sexist towards females and to say it has finally moved into the 21st century heavily suggests that the series has been sexist for a while.

Steven Moffat claiming there is no backlash suggests that he is down playing half the fandom, which is insulting or he is living in a bubble.

There is no right or wrong opinion, both are valid. Enough is enough for the press.

Overwhelmingly Received: Really? - Sci-Fi Debate - Female Doctor - Right or Wrong Decision

My answer - Wrong
Moffat claiming that it was an overwhelming success is competely ridicolous.
Please enjoy my argument that I put forward against some people on Youtube.
I would also just like to remind our viewers that my poll on this very website had 8 people against and non for.
There are a considerable amount of non-sexist people who are against a female Doctor who are Doctor Who fans https://forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/2232966/poll-do-you-agree-with-a-female-doctor/p1 The poll at the time of posting on the digital spy forum, which is where Doctor Who fans discuss episodes weekly, is 105 votes in favour and 102 against. Very close. I don't think anyone who isn't a fan of the show should make comments about it because they don't know enough. That goes for both sides of the argument. Yes Time Lords can change gender but that was only established in 2011 - before then no Time Lord had swapped gender and we had numerous Time Lords who regenerated before then The Doctor - 11 incarnations, all male The Master - 6 incarnations, all male Boruca - 4 incanations, all male Rommana - 6 incanations, all female (including the aborted ones in Destiny of the Daleks) To suggest that it is random in universe for the Time Lords to change gender is ridiculous. Since 2011 the Master and the General have swapped sex, the General stating that all his other bodies where female. Again not probability. Likewise it has been stated throughout the series that Time Lords always know who each other are, even if regeneration has occurred. The Doctor didn't recognise the Master when he was Missy for unknown reasons but it can be put down to the fact that he was no woman. Suggesting that this is something not expected amongest the Time Lord race Doctor Who is also has not been sexist to women. The companion role has always been as main as the Doctor. Yes the Doctor is the one who pilots the TARDIS and knows all the information about the planets but the companion is the audience surrogate. The companions of modern who have all been strong female leads who have not stopped to tell the Doctor that he is wrong when he acts all alien. Swamp that round and the show will be called sexist. Doctor Who has also said sexist comments to men in recent years. The line from Hell Bent from the General: "Back to normal am I, only time I had been a man in that last body, how did I cope with all that ego? And another line from River Song in the Husbands of River Song: "Stop thinking, you're a man it looks weird". Thing is of course the decision to change the character to a woman was done for political correctness reasons. Steven Moffat, current showrunner of the show, stated in 2014 that when the Doctor will be a woman will be when the showrunner is looking for an actor to fit the role of the Doctor that they want and that person happens to be female. He stated that it wont just be someone looking for a woman. That is however what Chris Chibnall did. If you took an established female character like Wonder Woman and changed her into a man would that be respected? You could say in response to that that Wonder Woman isn't a shape-shifting alien but I would respond with the same argument used against me in my argument for the Doctor "It's only fiction why couldn't the role be played by a man". The Doctor's personality for me, and it is different for others, but for me one of the only character traits that remains for each regeneration is the kind old grandfatherly figure. That can not be displayed by a woman. Men and women are different and In my opinion it can't be portrayed by a woman. If men and women were the same surely there would be no point to change the character in the first place?
I am not against a non-white Doctor. I don't believe that there are any traits to either race and both would be fully capable of completing the job. However I would be against it if they decided to scrape all white actors just for political correctness.
I am not sexist and nor are most people who share my view. I am all for equality. I like Rey and Jyn from the new Star Wars films. However I would not like it if Han Solo was portrayed by a woman in the new Han Solo films. To reach equality there should be new female characters and shows around them instead of just replacing male ones. And isn't just men who are against this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40626224 Are these women also sexist against their own gender? Shows like the Last Leg are great but they need to get their facts straight before jumping in to a show that they don't really know much about. To treat fans in this way is disrespectful, especially because about half are against this decision, despite what Moffat says. The fans don't really matter in terms of viewing figures but they do for merchandise which brings in the money for the BBC. If number 14 was a man then feminists would be outraged and would seem to forget that when it was the other way round it was sexist. Sorry for the rant but I hate it when people call me sexist when I strongly believe I am not. Of course there are sexist people but I don't think it is wrong to not like the decision. If the Doctor was another man and people complained about it they wouldn't be called sexist.
By giving women role models you take it away from many little boys who now think that they are not good enough to be the Doctor.
I won't see the no 13 as the Doctor just like I don't see Missy as the Master. I might like her character however.
As Colin Baker said "Can't role models be people", yes I am using his own argument against him.
Keep the Doctor male.

No more rants from now on, I hope
Sorry

Chris Chibnall - The Most Disivive Showrunner - Already

There have been a long list of showrunners

1. Verity Lambert - An Unearthly Child (1963) - Mission to the Unknown (1965)
2. John Wiles - The Myth Makers (1965) - The Ark (1966)
3. Innes Lloyd - The Celestial Toymaker (1966) - Enemy of the World (1967) (minus Tomb of the Cybermen)
4. Peter Bryant - The Web of Fear (1968) - The Space Pirates (1969) (plus Tomb of the Cybermen)
5. Derrick Sherwin - The War Games (1969) - Spearhead from Space (1970)
6. Barry Letts  - Doctor Who and the Silurians (1970) - Robot (1975)
7. Philip Hinchcliffe - The Ark in Space (1975) - The Talons of Weng Chiang (1977)
8. Graham Williams - Horror of Fang Rock (1977) - The Horns of Nimon (1980)
9. John Nathan Turner - The Leisure Hive (1980) - Survival (1989)
10. Philip Seagal  - The TV Movie (1996)
11. Russel T Davies - Rose (2005) - The End of Time (2010)
12. Steven Moffat - The Eleventh Hour (2010) - The Doctors (2017)
13. Chris Chibnall

So we with our 13th Doctor we have our 13th showrunner.

It was believed that Steven Moffat did a lot to annoy fans but Chris Chibnall's gender swap with the Doctor has caused a split in the fandom which has never been so big. Chibnall has alienated half his audience before even coming to the job.

He might be considered the worst showrunner of time if he isn't careful.

Another thing I don't like about the gender swap of the Time Lord is that in the future people's outcry will seem odd because by then there would be a reasonable amount of female Doctors. People who grew up with a male Doctor will grow less and less as sadly they die.

Jodie Whitaker will be accepted as a Doctor but not by the fans who want a male Doctor. Me included .

Why I hate being called a sexist because I don't like a Female Doctor in Doctor Who

"You're either with us or your an evil racist sexist misogynistic homophobic white supremacist bigot" sums up what people with my point of view are being called.

I am not sexist.

My views have been made clear so I wont bother sharing them again

Peter Davison and Peter Purves are against the 13th Doctor.
I hate this idea
Why don't we get a new spin off following Jenny, the Doctor's Daughter as Peter Davison suggests.
If I am sexist then I don't get how girls can be sexist against their own gender. I have friends which are girls who are against this. The Doctor is a male character. I will give her a chance but she won't be the Doctor in my eyes just like Missy is not the Master.

I am fine with new characters in Star Wars like Rey or Jyn Erso because they are new characters but the Doctor is an existing one. Don't take away a role model for half the population and take it away and give it to the other half, give them their own.

Doctor Who is sadly far more than a TV Show for me and a lot of other people. We are offended by the casting as we don't feel its right. 90% of us (roughly) are not sexist)

I am going to use a rather poor analogy but its the best I can think off. You have two babies, one girl and one boy. Both have their own toys to play with. Both can play with each others toys. However it is the owner of the toy that makes the decisions on how the toy looks or something like that. The boy unfortunately has more toys than the girl. The boy doesn't like his other toys that much so there mostly played by the girl who has less toys but he does like one particular toy, the Blue Box. Like is not the right word, he is obsessed with it. He adores it. His whole life is dedicated to this blue box. The girl likes the blue box too. Sometimes she struggles to connect with it because of the amount of 'boy' things added to it but she still enjoys it. Sometimes she likes it as much as the boy. One day the babies mother realises that the girl has less toys than the boy. She gives her a few more toys but not a lot. She then decides to give the blue box to the girl and allows her to do what she wants to the box. Therefore the number of toys is more fair. However now you have someone else who dedicated their life to the Blue Box but can no longer do what they want with it. Yes they can still play with it but its not the same. The girl before was perfectly happy  playing with the blue box when it was in the hands and although there were some changes she didn't like that the boy did she was still happy to play with it. Now the boy is very upset because his toy, which was far more than a toy to him, has now been changed. He has more than just a 'well its only a toy' attitude towards the Blue Box, he has a sentimental attachment to the Blue box and now it is changed forever, even if it ever got back to him in the future. Therefore in an attempt to make things fair, the mother has made her son distraught as he would have rather all his other toys be destroyed then loose the one he likes but she has made her girl happy. The mother of course could have just got another blue box for the girl.*
*The other blue box could be a spin off with equal publicity focusing on the Doctor's daughter, Jenny as Peter Davison suggests. In fact I wouldn't mind if Doctor Who went off the air for a while and this was the main sci-fi show on tele.

And for people who agree with my point of view, which is about half of the fandom, please don't give sexist comments because that makes us all look bad and the BBC won't realise their mistake.

Doctor Who: The 13th Doctor is Jodie Whitaker

I'm afraid my fears, and your fears as seen in my poll have come true. Jodie Whitaker is the Doctor.

I'm not going into a rant because I've done that a lot this afternoon but I do have to let you know that I shed a tear, something I haven't done for Doctor Who purposes since 2010. I am upset as this was done just to cater for the feminist war cryers. Chibnall didn't even bother looking for a man in went straight to the woman. I want see her as the Doctor. The Doctor is an established male character  who has been a man for 54 years of screen and in the universe he has been a man for 2195 years approximately but that discounts the extra 400 years he spent as the war doctor who was also a man.

Do I think this will damage the show?

Yes and no. I think that in the first few episodes and perhaps the first series we will see a rating spike. There will almost definitely be more interest in casual viewers at the beginning. When I say interest I'm not saying there all in favour but I think they'll want to give it a go. I think eventually it will be seen as a either ground-breaking decision or a stupid mistake. Fans who consider the 13th Doctor a woman will look back and think it was the right decision but all current fans may not agree. I know that they are a lot of people who a rubbing their hands with joy over this and others fuming. I am fuming. If this was done to a female character it would be completely shamed.

I think fans will stop buying merchandise, which will damage the show. I think that it will loose a lot of fans for two main reasons. One is the ones who don't like the Doctor being a woman and other boys who don't like to see a female lead, which is a shame, but as the Child Laurette herself said, boys don't like things about girls in fiction.

Will we see a male companion? Quite possibly. I'm less against this because companions are individual people not the same person

In terms of Time Lord biology I wonder what happens if a pregnant female Time Lord regenerates into a man?

Will the Doctor remain heterosexual or continue to like women?

This is sexist in my opinion. Taking a well established male role model and changing it for the benefit of a few people is ludicrous. It may well succeed and she may be the best Doctor yet but look at other films which recreated male characters with female ones. Ghostbusters? flop. Thor and Iron Man? have you even heard of that?

It was done for two reasons which are stupid
1. Equality for a show that has a strong female lead already
2. Petty rating spike

Imagine if this was done to a well established female character like Catwoman? Uproar! Sexism only seems to go one way....

If you want equality create new female characters like Rey or Jyn. Don't change male characters.

What will happen to the Master. Is he destined to remain a female? Who knows

Clara always seemed to upstage the Doctor on several occasions. If the male companion did that to the Doctor would we sexism rows again. This is is the problem with this. Your'e going to be faced with silly, ignorant feminist tumbler fans.

I'm not saying that it is only feminists who want this because that's not true but it is overwhelmingly them.

Does this mean no.14 will be a man or a woman. If 13 is replaced with a man will that be matched with sexism rows? Probably

Now I have ranted a lot on the Doctor being a woman but what about Jodie Whitaker. Well quite frankly I don't like her either. I mean good actress but one feels that she is the Doctor simply because Olivia Coleman turned down the role

She is 35 which is the 4th youngest actor to play the part. Shame really liked the old Doctor look.

How long will the Doctor be a woman? Who knows but hopefully not for long. I will make sure he remains a he if I ever get anywhere on Doctor Who.

Jodie Whitaker is the Doctor.

:(

13th Doctor is the least liked Doctor of all time before an appearance

47% are against the her. That's a lot.

Analysing the timeline of favourites

1. Ben Wishaw - The original favourite was Ben Wishaw, most famous for playing Q in James Bond and being the voice of Paddington bear. As soon as Peter Capaldi made his renouncement that he was leaving the TARDIS on the Jo Whiley show, Ben was straight in there at the top.

2. Tilda Switon - This came out of the blue in a way. I'm not sure how Tilda managed to make the rankings

3. Kris Marshall (1) - Kris Marshall first became the favourite after he left Death in Paradise. In his first time in the number 1 spot that was the only logical reasoning for his position

4. Phoebe Waller Bridge (1) - Like Tilda this one came right out of the blue

5. Kris Marshall (2) - Kris returned to the number one position after the Mirror reported that he had been offered the role of the Doctor and had already filmed his first scene on-board the TARDIS ready for episode 12 of the tenth series. We now know of course that that was not true but at the time that was obviously not known. The odds went up so much on Kris Marshall that betting was suspended for a while.

6. Luke Treadway - Luke's name fits the bill for another one of the Mirror's rumours. The mirror previously reported that Chris Chibnall was looking for a Doctor in his 30's to match the appeal of the David Tennant era. Luke's name was even suggested by the former Doctor, Christopher Eccleston

7. Pheobe Waller Bridge (2) - Pheobe returned just briefly for a day after BBC Newsnight strongly suggested that she was playing the 13th Doctor, causing her agent to outright say that she was not the 13th Doctor. However Phoebe did say she was not in the Han Solo film but she is, so her name isn't completely of the cards.

8. Kris Marshall (3) - Kris Marshall still dwindles in the top spots even when not in the favourite seat. When Phoebe lost her position Kris just retook the top spot.

9. Jodi Whitaker - Best known for playing Danny's mum in Broadchurch (which Chris Chibnall created and wrote). She has recently sprung right to the top and is the current favourite. This is what happened with Peter Capaldi when he was announced. Only a few days before he was announced as the Doctor he became number 1 from out of the blue. Therefore as she has sprung to number one so late onto the betting and has not been in the top 5 before this, does this mean she is the 13th Doctor?

Number of days in Top spot

1. Kris Marshall - 53 days
2. Luke Treadway - 43 days
3. Ben Wishaw - 29 days
4. Phoebe Waller Bridge - 21 days
5. Tilda Swinton - 14 days
6. Jodi Whitaker - 3 days

There we have it. Kris Marshall is the long running favourite, someone who has been in the position for three times, but not necessarily for a long time in each period. He is still in the top 5 now. In second place we have Luke Treadway who was in the top spot for a long period of time, but this was due to lack of advertisement and speculation on who the 13th Doctor would be. Third is the original, Ben Wishaw. Fourth is Phoebe who still resides in the top 5 position. Tilda Swinton is next and last is the current Jodi Whitaker.

None of the top 5 have been non-white actors but three have been female, all of which are placed fourth, fifth and sixth. However this doesn't mean that the Doctor want be a female because you have to look at the current top 5 not all time and also half of the favourites have been female, which is a lot considering how many actors there are in the world and how many are in the top 20 (which also includes former Doctor Who actor David Tennant and politician Jeremy Corbyn).

Analysing the current top 5

1. Jodi Whitaker - The current number one just sprang out of no where, just like Peter Capaldi did on the last few days before his announcement. Does this mean she will be the next doctor?

2. Kris Marshall - The long running favourite still resides in the number two spot. Out of all the actors this is the only one where a tabloid as reported that he is the Doctor as fact.

3. Phoebe Waller Bridge - The only actor to be on here who has officially stated that she is not the Doctor. She has lied before so what's to say she isn't lying this time.

4. Tom Rosenthall - A relatively unknown actor who has also stared in Broadchurch. He too fits the bill of a 30's Doctor

5. David Harwood - A name that appears every time a new Doctor is to be decided. He has previously been in Doctor Who, playing Joshua Naismith.

The current top 5 contain a ratio of 3:2 male to female and a 4:1 white to black. It appears that the betting services believe that a female Doctor is more likely than a black one. I however think that the actor is likely to be a black first then a female.

Analysing the List Poll

In January when Peter Capaldi announced on Jo Whiley' show that Series 10 would be his last I set up a poll to see what my readers thought about the demand for a female or non-white Doctor. As the results above show all 8 people that voted all thought the same. No to a female Doctor but yes to a non-white one. I also hold this opinion and I have to say that I am one of the people who voted for that. Despite my belief I do not want Chris Chibnall to go out looking for a non-white Doctor. If a non-white Doctor auditions for the role and is the best then cast him. I don't want it to just be because it is 'fair'. Certain Doctors such as Peter Davison, Colin Baker and David Tennant did not audition for the role but were hand picked. If a black or non-white Doctor was picked I would sincerely hope that it is because they are the best choice for the role and not because they are black. Many people are in favour of having a female Doctor so my poll here is not reflective of an entire community but it seems that my readers are all against the idea. I believe that the Doctor should also ways be cased because they fit the character the best not fit the character around the actor. Many people who want a female Doctor would feel the same I am sure but I believe that it is actually impossible to have a Doctor that is designed to be played by a female. If we take the Master for example there is no way that Michelle Gomez got the part because she fitted the character the best. The character was always intended to be a woman in series 8. I think that this is wrong to focus so much on pandering to feminists that you could jeopardy a Doctor, a lead star. I'm not saying that Missy wasn't a good character and she certainly was popular with half of the fandom but I do believe that taking that risk with the main star is to risky. Back to my earlier point about it being impossible to cast a female to fit the character. If the showrunner is a fan of the show, which they better be, then they might well have thought for a long time about what they were going to do with the show. The might very well have their own Doctor already in their head. That Doctor would have to be a man. The only reason for it to be a woman is for the showrunner to think that a woman should play the role, which therefore is against how I believe the casting process should go for the Doctor. Sorry for my long rant but I do want to say now that whoever is cast as the 13th Doctor I still will be watching despite the fact that if it is a female I will be dreadfully upset.

Doctor Who: Confusion of Episode Parts

Recently you may see me refer to the Monk Trilogy as that, a trilogy. However Steven Moffat, the boss of Doctor Who and the Keeper of time essentially states that they are not a trilogy but three individual episodes, despite the fact that the three clearly are linked and, in my opinion would not work if you put a story in between them. Let's analyse episodes that different sources state different things.

A problem for a lot of these is that official BBC sources also contradict each other. We just need someone so say with a firm grasp on what the truth is. Another major problem is Moffat deliberately wanting to cause the sense of vague that he knows angers fans.

Trail of a Time Lord -
Arguments for a four individual stories:
- Each of the four segments have their own story. The Trail is only an arc
- Each of the four segments have different writers and different directors along with a mostly new cast
- Each of the four segments production names were different to the Trail of a Time Lord
Arguments for one story:
- The opening of the adventure does say Trail of a Time Lord for every story.
- The story has one major villain throughout - the Valeyard
- DWM sees it as a fourteen parter
My Believe: Trail of a Time Lord is a fourteen parter, mostly because of the opening credits making it as such.
Most Official sources state: - Trail of a Time Lord is a fourteen parter but there are four individual segments within it - but they are not separate stories.

Utopia/Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords -
Arguments for two parter:
- The episodes were written as two separate stories and were advertised as such
- The director for the first episode is different to the last two
- The setting of Utopia is different to the latter two and has unique cast
- Utopia just ends in a cliffhanger for the final two parter just like Closing Time in series 6
Arguments for three parter:
- All are written by Russel T Davies
- The three episodes all feature the same villain - The Master
- DWM sees the episodes as a three parter
- The episodes were advertised as separate to keep the reveal of the Master a surprise. Most, but obviously not all or there would be no purpose in doing this post, now state that the three parter is that, a three parter
My Believe: - I, right from its release thought this to be a three parter and I still do
More or less Official: - It is a three parter

A Goodman Goes to War/Let's Kill Hitler
Arguments for two parter:
- They were advertised as a two parter beforehand
- Both stories follow River Song
- Both are written by Steven Moffat and the latter continues from the former
Arguments for two separate episodes:
- DWM view them as two separate episodes
- The two are completely different in almost every way, cast, setting and villain
- River Song is arguably the only connective but there have been many stores in the past that have featured the same recurring characters next to each other but are not the same story.
- The two episodes aired three months apart
My Believe: - I believe the two to be separate stories. I think I am slightly biased because I really like a Good Man Goes to War but Let's Kill Hitler is the worst story of the modern era in my opinion
More or less Official: - The two are separate

The Girl who Died/The Woman who Lived
Arguments for a two parter:
- Both feature Ashilda, or is the focus of the two stories
- The two episodes were planned behind the scenes as a two parter
Arguments for two single episodes:
- Both have different cast and different writers
- The two episodes would have worked if broadcasted further apart
My Belief: At first I did believe it to be a two parter. I can see the arguments against this but I still believe that this one is a two parter.
More or less Official: - The two episodes are separate

Face the Raven/Heaven Sent/Hell Bent
Arguments for three separate episodes:
- All feature different enemies and feature different cast and setting and plot
- No episode featured in the same recording block
Arguments for Face the Raven and a two part finale:
- This is how production billed it
- Face the Raven is just a lead in to the final but the Time Lords are the main villain behind Heaven Sent
- Face the Raven is written by Sarah Dollard whilst the latter two are by Steven Moffat
- Face the Raven was originally episode 7 in the production order.
Arguments for a three parter:
- Peter Capaldi thinks this
- The Time Lords were behind Ashilda getting the Doctor to go into the confession dial so all three do have a continuous link
My Belief: At first I thought it was a three parter but now I believe that Face the Raven only acts like Turn Left does to the series 4 finale. I do believe that the latter two are a two part finale
More or less official: - Face the Raven is a separate episode from the two part finale

The Monk Trilogy
Arguments for three separate stories:
- All have different writers, setting and cast
- Steven Moffat states that they are separate
- The three are no more connected with each other than they are with Oxygen
Arguments for three parter:
- All feature the Monks as the main villain
- The three do follow a pattern of the Monks and their invasion
- The episodes would not work if they were broadcasted separately.
- Toby Whithouse views the three episodes as the same story
- Radio Times states that they are a trilogy
My Belief: - The thee episodes are a three parter
More of less official - Because of Steven Moffat we are looking at three separate episodes

Doctor Who: 13th Doctor Announcement Tomorrow

Tomorrow after the Men's Tennis Wimbledon Final on BBC One we get to know who will be playing Doctor 13 in the hit BBC series, Doctor Who.

This is yet another way that they are announcing it. In January 2009, a whole year before Matt Smith's first appearance as the Doctor they revealed that it was him in a special hour long Confidential special. Peter Capaldi was announced in a Doctor Who Live on BBC One in August. Now whoever will be Doctor 13 will be announced on 16th July.

Analysing Doctor Who Viewers

It is no secret that Doctor Who viewers are going down. There are two groups of fans mainly in terms of their reaction to this. Some fans seem to think that the show is in danger of being axed and others seem to think that the show is just as popular as it used to be and its just there way that the show is viewed that has changed, causing the supposed decrease. My opinion is that Doctor Who is in no danger of being axed. It is the BBC's biggest money bringer so they would be foolish to axe it. Also Doctor Who is still staying inside the top 30 programmes with many episodes remaining in the top 10 and topping Saturday night showing. However to say that the show is as popular as it used to be is silly. There is no chance that the show is as popular as it used to be. Let's take a look at the series averages over the past 36 series of Doctor Who.

Ranking

1. Season 17 = 11.22 - Tom Baker
2. Season 14 = 11.17 - Tom Baker

34. Season 24 = 4.98 - Sylvester McCoy
35. Season 23 = 4.83 - Colin Baker

Series 10 is the 32nd most watched DW series and the lowest of the modern era. Sylvester McCoy's three series and Colin Baker's last are the only series to be lower than him.

If we look at the three modern Doctors with three seasons.

David Tennant:

Matt Smith:

20

Peter Capaldi:

So there has been a considerable drop in Series 9. Series 4 is the highest viewed series of the modern era.

Series 10: A rip off off previous stories

The Pilot - The Chase (1965)
Smile - The Happiness Patrol (1988)
Thin Ice - The Beast Below (2010)
Knock Knock - Hide (2013)
Oxygen - I can't find anything
Extremis - The Android Invasion (1976)
The Pyramid at the End of the World - The Zygon Invasion (2015)
The Lie of the Land - The Last of the Time Lords (2007)
Empress of Mars - I can't find anything
Eaters of the Light - I can't find anything
World Enough and Time - Rise of the Cybermen (2006)
The Doctor Falls - The Time of the Doctor (2013)

This doesn't look so good does it? I could find connections with 9 episodes of the 12 with previous stories some are even more similar than others. This obviously shows the lack of new ideas with Moffat, which is fair enough as he has been doing the job for 7 years.

Ranking the modern series

1. Series 4 (David Tennant and Catherine Tate) - This series was probably my peak life for the show. There really is no dud in there in my opinion. It also offers a lot of fantastic episodes, more than any other series. Turn Left, Midnight, Vastra Nerada two parter and the series finale, as well as Waters of Mars if you were to count it in this series are all '9' worthy for me. The series arc was less prominent then the other series but the missing planets idea was a good one. The series finale was a celebration of my era of Doctor Who so I was always going to enjoy that one - it's just a shame that it was wrapped up so easily. The 10th Doctor and Donna are just an excellent pairing as well, with Donna being my favourite companion. I remember watching most of these episodes for the first time when I was just 7 years old and I remember loving it.

2. Series 2 (David Tennant and Billie Piper) - This may be a shock to many as people aren't so keen on this series and definitely see it as the weakest of the RTD era. I for one love this series. I only dislike one of the two famous duds of this series (Fear Her) so I have no problem there. I think that the Ood two parter and the series finale are both excellent stories as are the Girl in the Fireplace, the Cybermen two parter, school reunion and Tooth and Claw. I don't dislike the Doctor-Rose lovestory as that was all I knew of Doctor Who at the time. My first classic series episode - The Trail of the Time Lord- I didn't watch until 2009 so it didn't anger me like it has other people.

3. Series 1 (Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper) - This series did a good job at showing everything Doctor Who can be and all the different episodes that it can do. It is a shame though that no story was set on an alien planet. The series was very self-contained with a lot of sequels to episodes previously in in the series. For example the Slitheen two-parter, Dalek and the Long Game all have sequels in the series. The Empty Child two-parter is really creepy and excellent and Dalek is still the best use of the Daleks in the modern era.

4. Series 3 (David Tennant and Freema Agyman) - Yes I do have all the RTD era series above the Moffat ones. This series is considerably lower than the other three in the RTD era. It has a pretty average set of stories but has three stories that I absolutely love - Blink, John Smith two-parter and the Master three part finale. I think that Martha was a good companion but was wasted on the unrequited love plot that I would have preferred a lot more if the reason why the love was unrequited wasn't Rose.

5. Series 10 (Peter Capaldi, Pearl Mackie and Matt Lucas) - I thought this series was a very good one. Like series 1 it showed everything that Doctor Who can do. It has a pretty average set of stories with only one that is particularly spectacular and that is the finale. I am hoping that the incoming Christmas Special is worthy of a 9 because then this series might be the first Moffat series to overtake an RTD one. I thought that the TARDIS team was excellent and it just a shame this trio just had this series. It would have been better if the trio was introduced last series.

6. Series 5 (Matt Smith and Karen Gillan) - When this series first aired I didn't like it. I still look upon the early Matt Smith years with a bit of a cynical tone. I just didn't like the way that the Doctor was laughed at as if Amy had always known him. The series kicked off an arc that would finish with Matt Smith. This idea meant that it was more of a cult series which did bring new fans from America but it alienated the British audience at home who were casual viewers. I thought that the series didn't have any stories worthy of such praise as other stories mentioned above but it had no real bad ones either. I don't like Amy so that does affect my opinion of the series.

7. Series 9 (Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman)- This series felt like a fan-fest by Moffat who did things that a lot of people didn't like. This series did a lot of firsts for new who. First appearance of Skaro and Gallifrey proper. First appearance of The Master meeting Davros etc. The series did do things that annoyed fans like the waste of Gallifrey. I thought this series had a good run of episodes, my favourite being the Zygon two-parter. I do however think that the two stories with Ashilda in the middle of the series were dreadful. Clara being the Doctor was annoying and she upstaged him a lot. That is why her ending in Face the Raven was excellent because it showed that you can't all be the Doctor. That unfortunately was ruined.

 8. Series 7 (Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman) - This series was pleasant with again no stand out episodes other than the 50th. It was a good series with a good collection of adventures with one awful episode - the Rings of Arkhaten. I liked the Clara mystery girl plot but I felt that it was forgotten about after this series despite it being such an important event. I thought that Time of the Doctor wrapped things up rather badly because it had do everything in one hour as well as having an awful sub-plot of Clara needing the Doctor to help her cook a turkey.

9. Series 6 (Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) - This series was too arc heavy for me. There were also now stand out episodes but there was certainly one that annoyed me - Let's Kill Hitler. The main difference between a RTD and Moffat bad episode is that the Moffat ones irritate me. I thought that the arc was wrapped up to quickly and the Wedding of River Song was just a cultivated piece of mess and definitely the weakest finale of the modern era. I did like the TARDIS team and I thought that Rory brought a lot to the series.

10. Series 8 (Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman) - This series had no stand out episodes and was too heavy of Danny Pink who I didn't like much anyway. Kill the Moon and Into the Forest of the Night are awful episodes. There are good episodes in this series but nothing smashing. The Doctor and Clara's relationship braking down was a good idea but was so inconsistent between stories.

Doctor Who Series 10: Ranking the Stories

1. World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls - Well World Enough and Time was an excellent episode but so was Heaven Sent. I would even say that World Enough and Time is the best Capaldi episode that has aired in the three years. My opinion of the Doctor Falls as considerably changed. On first watch I thought it was underwhelming and just a tad better than Hell Bent. I was annoyed by the lack of use of John Simm, of which I still am and of course I don't like the random nature of Bill's depature. That being said it was a terrific final and the 'defending of a small bunch of humans' was far more effective here then it was in Time of the Doctor. The first part was really creepy and used the cybermen really well.

2. The Monk Trilogy - Now this trilogy is hard to comment on. For a start is it actually a three parter like Toby Whithouse claims or three separate stories like Moffat claims. For me it is a three parter but I suppose officially it is three individual episodes so there will be a time where I will accept this like the Girl who Died/The Woman who Lived. Extremis was a good story and excellently done. The Pyramid at the End of the World was also good. It was similar to previous stories but the 'love ends the day' as opposed to the 'love saves the day' trope of recent was excellent. Lie of the Land however was a huge disappointment and quite lacklustre. I don't have to much trouble with excepting the Bill's mum saving the day but I was a little disappointed that the creepy-all-powerful monks were so easily defeated.

3. Oxygen - This story really did play with space very well. It used it as the enemy. The zombies were also quite scary too. I feel for this episode the capitalism idea was also very good and creepy and something that could well happen in the future. There are so many anti-communist pieces of drama that it is good to find fault in our own system. I always enjoy it when Doctor Who represents a real world problem and translates it to sci-fi.

4. Knock Knock - Knock Knock was scary and the characters in it were by far the best secondary characters of the serious. David Suchet was superb as the Landlord. However all the characters coming back to life was a annoying and again there was another 'love' plot that was so effective when first used in Hide but now feels like 'here we go again'. I do feel though that up until the ending it was good and the twist of him being the son was actually a good one and despite what I just said I do feel that I liked the Landlord's motives. It was a realistic one that is truly believable.

5. The Pilot - The first episode of the series was a really good one and introduced the series themes very well as well as establishing a very good series arc. It was a bit of a rip off of the Chase but it was really good in terms of setting up everything. It was an excellently well done series opener.

6. The Return of the Doctor Mysterio - This episode was really enjoyable to watch and not a bad plot either. It was silly yes but it was good for a Christmas Special. I personally just enjoyed the episode. So in that sense it was really good.

7. Empress of Mars - This story felt like it belonged in the William Hartnell era. It was the most classic series episode of not just this series but new who all together in my opinion. The introduction of the female Ice Warrior seems to be yet another new thing to do with the Ice Warriors to convince Moffat to allow them to appear as he particularly dislikes them. The appearance of Alpha Centauri is of course an absolute treat and to have a prequel to a story released in 1972 was also nice. This episode had ice warriors and Victorians, Gattis' two favourite things so I would be highly surprised if this story was not is last.

8. Smile - Smile was meant to be a character piece and I am never to fond of those. However it was still good to see a futuristic site of a human colony and the use of the emoji robots was far better than I think anyone was expected. The episode was just alright and definitely was an improvement to Boyce's previous script.

9. Thin Ice - Judging by this you would assume that I don't like episodes set in the past but I assure you that this is not the case. Thin Ice was again okay but I do feel that the villain was just the stereo-typical British lord who had nothing that made him different. All I can say is that it was alright.

10. Eaters of the Light - My least favourite episode felt like a Sylvester McCoy story, probably because it was written by the new who series' first classic series writer. I thought that the episode was okay but nothing spectacular. I think that the eater of the light was defeated a little to easily.

Doctor Who New Who Series Ranking

Just a reminder on what it was at the end of Series 9.

1. Series 4 = 7.94
2. Series 2 = 7.45
3. Series 1 = 7.40
4. Series 9 = 7.13
5. Series 8 = 7.00
6. Series 7 = 6.94
7. Series 3 = 6.90
8. Series 5 = 6.90
9. Series 6 = 5.58

I also remember what it was after series 8

1. Series 4
2. Series 7
3. Series 8
4. Series 2
5. Series 1
6. Series 3
7. Series 5
8. Series 6

Since doing a new who marathon I am pretty certain that my order has changed since then.

1. Series 4 = 7.87 (Down by 0.07)
2. Series 2 = 7.55 (Up by 0.10)
3. Series 1 = 7.50 (Up by 0.10)
4. Series 3 = 7.20 (Up by 0.30)
5. Series 10 = 7.10 (New + Incomplete)
6. Series 5 = 7.10 (Up by 0.20)
7. Series 9 = 7.00 (Down by 0.13)
8. Series 7 = 6.76 (Down by 0.18)
9. Series 6 = 6.75 (Up by 0.18)
10. Series 8 = 6.73 (Down by 0.27)

Well Series 10 manages to pop in in in joint 5th although because I prefer series 10 to 5 just by thought it manages to over top it. I am incredibly surprised by how much the score has changed. I really wasn't expecting much change at all but every single series changed somewhat. Four of the past 9 series have gone down, in particular series 8 and the other five have gone up, in particular series 3. Series 8 has gone down to last place, taking that away from series 6 which held it in 2014 and 2015. Series 8 originally was 3rd of 8 then 5th of 9 and now 10th of 10. This really is surprising at face value for me but looking into it I do have to agree. My once second favourite series, series 7 has now fallen to 8th and is almost at risk of falling below series 6. Series 4 is still at the top but has lost its incredibly high lead. Yet again, just like series 8 and 9, Series 10 has done well. Last year series 9 was my favourite Moffat series and was in 4th place, beating a Russel series, series 3. Now it is in 7 of 10. I thought that as a got older I would tread away from preferring the RTD series but instead it has gone the other way. Perhaps Nostalgia has caught up with me. It is interesting to see that in my top half after series 8 (when Moffat and RTD had done the same amount) was equal. If we still were to only use the first 8 series then all of RTD's series were in the top half. Series 8 was my second favourite Moffat series in 2014 and 2015, just behind series 7 and 9 respectively. Now it is 6th. Series 9 was my favourite of the five Moffat series of 2015 but now it is third of six, with new series 10 entering 5th and series 5 also rising. All three years have seen the same ranking for me of the RTD series with 4 always being my favourite and 3 being my least favourite.

Doctor Who: Series 10 Complete Reviews Breakdown

This is all based off my reviews that I have done following all episodes off Peter Capadli's Doctor. He is the Doctor for me on here and I have not marked any other Doctor in the proper episodic score system. Let's see what I have done for him using my, what I would call, unreliable system of scoring Doctor Who but one  I will surely keep as a don't like change and I believe it is different to other peoples reviews on the web.

Of course also important to know that Series 10 is not over yet, despite the feeling that it is, until Christmas.

Series ranking and episode ranking coming after this.

Episode Countdown

1. World Enough and Time (Steven Moffat) = 85.71%
2. Extremis (Steven Moffat) = 80.77%
3. The Doctor Falls (Steven Moffat) = 79.33%
4. The Pyramid at the End of the World (Peter Harness and Steven Moffat) = 78.00%
5. Empress of Mars (Mark Gattis)= 75.33%
6. Knock Knock (Mike Barlett) = 74.29%
7. The Pilot (Steven Moffat) = 74%

12. Smile (Frank Controll Boyce) = 71.66%
13. The Lie of the Land (Toby Whithouse) = 70.00%

Just before look at stories you can tell that the Series 10 final did well with the second part slightly letting down the first and also not achieving the 80% threshold. The Monk trilogy did well with its first two being second and fourth and both being quite ahead of the other 9 episodes. However the last instalment of the Monk trilogy ranked at the lowest of the top 13.

Series 8 Average: 78.98%
Series 9 Average: 77.14%
Series 10 Average: 75.34%

Well in terms of episodes Series 10 is a mix with most of the episodes fitting in to the bottom half, in fact all but four do actually appear there. Series 10 was very tight in scores and very consistent. Most episodes were between 70% and 75%. No new episode did enter the 60% bracket but the Lie of the Land was close. The Zygon Invasion from series 9 is the highest non-Steven Moffat episode in 8th place meaning Moffat pens the top 7. World Enough and Time is the highest rated episode since Death in Heaven and slots in to 4th place, beating every episode of Series 9. Series 10 in terms of epiodes is quite a lot lower than previous series.

1. Dark Water/Death in Heaven (Steven Moffat) = 88.18%
2. Listen (Steven Moffat) = 88.00%
3. Deep Breath (Steven Moffat) = 82.86%

13. Face the Raven (Sarah Dollard) = 76.16%
14. Flatline (Jamie Mathieson) = 75.38%
~ Into the Forest of the Night (Frank Contrell Boyce) = 75.38%

Again in terms of stories Series 10 are very much grouped together with 5 episodes all slotted together between The Caretaker and the Girl who Died.

Peter Capaldi/Companion score out of 10

For Stories Deep Breath - Hell Bent the companion present is Clara. For the Husbands of River Song the score is River then Nardole. From Return of the Doctor Mysterio it is Bill then Nardole.

Now before I evaluate these scores I have to say I do disagree with a lot of them now. Peter Capaldi managed to secure 10 on 8 occasions, series 10 being the lowest number of 10's for him being 2. However as Series 10 hasn't finished it is more than likely that Capaldi will get a 10 in his final episode. Clara in two series managed 3 10's, Bill managed none and Nardole managed 1 (not a companion at that point though...). Capaldi as well as the 8 10's also managed 15 9's and 15 8's. Capaldi has never got anything lower than 8 so that is impressive. For Clara as well as the 3 10's she also managed 2 9's, 9 8's and 8 7's. Clara even got high than the Doctor on 3 occasions. Bill managed no 10's, 3 9's, 6 8's and 3 7's. Bill beat the Doctor once. Nardole has managed 1 10, no 9's, 3 8's, 4 7's and a 6.

Stay refreshed for a Series 10 Series Ranking.
