Hello it's Christmas Day if you are reading this on the day of the release of the post.
Today also marks the end of Peter Capaldi's time on Doctor Who which is a sad thing for all of us. Peter Capaldi is my 4th favourite of the 12 Time Lords and when he has finished will be the 6th longest serving TARDIS key holder.
Peter is a life long fan of Doctor Who. He became an actor to be the Doctor. Before appearing as the Doctor he was already involved of course. Peter had previously appeared in the David Tennant episode "Fires of Pompeii" in 2008 and also he had a recurring role in Torchwood: Miracle Day as well.
Peter presumably felt that he could never be the Doctor with everyone believing that the Doctor would get younger every time. However Peter Capaldi became the Doctor at the age of 55 and how wondefful he has been.
The 12th Doctor's debut was before his regeneration, something unheard of before in Doctor Who, where he helped his previous incarnations to save Gallifrey from the Dalek threat that was beneath them. Number 12 made another appearance 4 years ago today on 2013's Christmas Special, Time of the Doctor, the final appearance of Matt Smith as the Doctor.
The 12th Doctor's first full adventure was battling the Clockwork Robots in Victorian London. The 12th Doctor at first and for the majority of Series 8 was grumpy, and different to how he became by the end of it all. In his first series the 12th Doctor battled the Daleks, Cybermen, a Mummy on the Orient Express, the boneless and of course the first female incarnation of the Master, Missy.
In Series 9 his character began to change drastically. He was now a rocker cool Doctor, playing his guitar and wearing Sonic Sunglasses and was all up for hug this time. This character change was annoying for me I have to say. This series saw Peter perform to triumph with the amazing Zygon War speech and even an episode where Peter was the sole cast member other than the hooded Veil, a cameo of a vision of Clara and a small Gallifreyan boy at the end.
The 10th Series really is where 12th Doctor came to light. He had two new companions with him, Bill and Nardole who were really perfect for him. Series 10 was fantastic from start to finish and The Doctor Falls was an incredible fitting end to his chracter, despite the fact that the Christmas Special fulfills that role.
We have to hope that despite what Peter has said we will see the 12th Doctor again.
Maybe for 60th! Who knows..
Thank you from the List to Peter Capaldi for entertaining us for the past 4 years.
