UPDATED: Doctor Who Film



It has been announced that BBC Worldwide and Sony Pictures will work together for a Doctor Who Film.

Steven Moaffat (head of Doctor Who 2010-) has said that Doctor Who will remain a television series until 2019 and the film will happen between 2022 and 2023.

It is unclear if the film will be part of the Doctor Who universe or if it will be like the Peter Cushing films in the 1960's that happened alongside the television series but was in a different universe. It is also unclear if the television series will return after the film or will Doctor Who remain in the film industry.

Doctor Who also made headlines earlier this month when Mark Gatiss revaled that his Doctor Who spin off series, PROBE (1994-1996) will return. The series followed Dr. Liz Shaw, who was a companion of Jon Pertwee, the third doctor. The actress of Liz, Caroline John died in 2012 aged 71 and Hazel Burrows will replace her.



UPDATED: Steven Moaffat has expressed that the thinks the film will make good money for the BBC but he believes it would work better as a TV Series and is likely to return to the TV series after the 1 film..
