Series 12, in its main run at least, has been completed, so before the usual end of series posts (which I hope to do), I will review the rest of the series.
Episode 6 was quite frankly so plot hole ridden there wasn't really much going for it at all. Why were the birds angry? Why did they only sometimes attack? Why did they send Ryan to Peru? Why did the plastic not make the fish angry? Why did they chose an astronaut to do the experiments on? Why did they not comment on the fact that that man on the beech just died. The whole thing was quite frankly a mess, and there are even more plot holes that would be an article in itself. It started off intriguing but that's as far as I can get. 4/10 (originally 5)
Episode 7 was a weird one. Concept was quite good but the dialogue was hanmy and the plot resolution was too quick. Why were they even in Syria? This episode was fortunate enough to have one of the best lines yet. "I've got chips though" from Ryan. It doesn't get better than that. Oh wait, yes it does. 6/10 (originally 7)
Episode 8 actually had premise to it. The side characters were interesting, the two plots in one actually worked together and this episode finally gave the Doctor a moral dilemma where she took charge. I do have to say, this series has got many of the same issues as series 11 but the Doctor does feel more like the Doctor in this series, which is good. Ryan in this episode was also alright. The cyberman return was rumoured but well done. Also this episode did it well when comes to having a message, but not preachy, it was subtle - the power of words. 7/10
Episode 9 was just a bit slow but it was absolutely fine. The Brendan stuff was interesting, a bit out of place, but that is fine for a part one. The Cybermen were good. There are a few issues with it, like why did they not think that the Cybership was going to have cybermen on it? If the ship could leave so early, why did they just not go to the boundary straight away? Ryan did nothing, as per usual. The cybermen new design is good. 7/10
Aah well the Timeless Children. Let's start with the story. As the story goes, it was fine. The Master's plan was a bit far-fetched but they often are. The Master-Cybermen duo have been used three times now in series finales and it is getting quite repetitive. The Master here, with no fault of Sacha Dawan, was way too over the top, it was unreal really. The scene with Graham and Yaz was quite frankly fantastic. Now with the canon stuff. No, just no. I was not a fan of it at all. The Doctor not being from Gallifrey, and all of this is too game-changing for me. I just did not like it, and the fact it was laid out to us like some kind of book. No. And Cyber-Time Lords? I just don't know where to begin. That being said, the episode itself was fine. 7/10
