The fourth Star Wars canon spin off series, Resistance's first official trailer has been released. It is set to air in October.
My first impressions is that it looks childish and that I won't like it. However, I will give it a chance as I wasn't particularly keen on Rebels season 1 but season 2 was a return to Star Wars television norm.
It's exiting to see that its set in 33 ABY and so close to the Force Awakens. There is a lot of time between Return of the Jedi and the Force Awakens so it will be good to see events that occur in that time.
The main characters will be probably be heavily disliked by me at first but hopefully, like Rebels, it will improve.
Poe Dameron, BB 8, Phasma and Leia Organa are all set to appear in the series. I highly doubt we will see Finn or Rey as they don't really fit in the known story plot with where they are. Kaydel Ko and Rose are more likely. As for the First Order, I would not be surprised to see Hux. Kylo Ren I think is less likely. Snoke would be excellent but I think he will only be mentioned. I hope C 3P0 and R2 D2 are in it and Disney try and keep up the tradition of having them in everything, even though that is no longer true with the release of Solo. Talking of which, it would be excellent to see Solo and Chewbacca in it.
In terms of past animated characters, I'm not too sure if we will see any of them. Filoni has confirmed that Resistence does not explore Ahsoka and Sabine's search for Ezra but it might do in the future is my guess. Unfortunately I do believe that in 33 ABY, Rex will be the age of 65 which means his body will be the age of 130 and therefore Rex is likely to be dead buy this point.
Who knows what will happen but we will see.
