For Christmas Day I did a brief tribute for showrunner Steven Moffat and for The Doctor actor Peter Capaldi but perhaps I haven't acknowledged the others who are leaving us.
Brian Minchian
Job:
Script Editor: Doctor Who Series 5, Torchwood Series 1-2
Producer: Torchwood Series 4, The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 4-5
Executive Producer: Time of the Doctor - Twice Upon a Time, Class Series 1
Brian has been involved in the whoniverse from 2006 so he has been around awhile. In 2013 in Matt Smith' final adventure he was promoted to the highest position other than showrunner who was in charge of the production of the show. He is moving on to work for Steven Moffat's wife's company and is expected to be involved in Moffat and Gatiss' new Dracula project
Murray Gold
Job:
Music Composer: Rose - Twice Upon a Time, All of Torchwood and the theme for SJA
Murry has been with us from the very start composing everything in Doctor Who and has done some composing in Torcwhood and the theme for SJA. I don't know what he is going to do next but it will be sad to see him go as even when the episode is bad you can always rely on a bit of Murray Gold
Peter Bennent
Job:
Producer: Torchwood Series 3, Doctor Who Series 5, Series 8 - Twice Upon a Time
Peter was around in the RTD era and briefly joined Moffat when he became showrunner before leaving and then returning for overseeing the Capaldi era. He is unfortunately leaving whilst the other producer, Nikki Wilson is carrying on
Mark Gatiss
Job:
Actor: "The Lazarus Experiment" (Series 3), "Victory of the Daleks" (Series 5), "A Goodman Goes to War" (Series 6), "The Wedding of River Song" (Series 6), "The Great Detective" (Series 7), "Twice Upon a Time" (Series 10), "An Adventure in Time and Space"
Writer: "The Unquiet Dead" (Series 1), "The Idiot's Lantern"(Series 2), "Victory of the Daleks" (Series 5), "Night Terrors" (Series 6), "Cold War" (Series 7), "The Crimson Horror" (Series 7), "Robots of Sherwood" (Series 8), "Sleep No More" (Series 9), "Empress of Mars" (Series 10), "An Adventure in Space and Time
Narrator: Doctor Who Confidential Series 5-6
Executive Producer: "An Adventure in Space and Time"
Mark along with Moffat are the only two writers to have written for every modern Doctor. Gatiss is leaving because he is a mate of Moffat and it would be weird for him personally to carry on. I am not surprised by finding this out after his final script had two of his favourite things in them: Ice Warriors and Victorians". He has ups and downs as a writer but he will be missed.
Toby Whithouse
Job:
Actor: "Twice Upon a Time" (Series 10)
Writer: "School Reunion" (Series 2), "Vampires of Venice" (Series 5), "The God Complex" (Series 6), "A Town Called Mercy" (Series 7), "Under the Lake/Before the Flood" (Series 9), "The Lie of the Land" (Series 10)
Toby is probably the second go to writer for Moffat so it also sad to see him go. I have always had mixed feelings over his scripts but as he has been around for so long it is still sad to see him go.
Other actors and crew have also sad their goodbyes but are not unfortunately "high-profile" in terms of their jobs for me to know about them, which does by any means lower their importance for what they do for the show. Not all who are leaving have also been alerted to us anyway.
