Star Wars - Length of Films

The length of Episode 8 was announced some time ago but lets see how it compares with the other films

In order of length

1. The Last Jedi - 2 hours 30 minutes
2. Attack of the Clones - 2 hours 22 minutes
3. Revenge of the Sith - 2 hours 20 minutes
4. The Force Awakens - 2 hours 17 minutes
5. The Phantom Menace - 2 hours 16 minutes
6. Return of the Jedi - 2 hours 15 minutes
7. Rogue One - 2 hours 14 minutes
8. The Empire Strikes Back - 2 hours 7 minutes
9. A New Hope - 2 hours 4 minutes
10. The Clone Wars - 1 hour 36 minutes

And there we have, the Last Jedi being a whole 8 minutes longer than the previous record holder, Episode II Attack of the Clones and whole whopping 26 minutes longer than the shorted episodic film and 54 minutes longer than the shortest of the Star Wars films.

The Original Trilogy Total: 6 hours 26 minutes
The Prequel Trilogy Total: 6 hours 58 minutes

The Original Trilogy First two films: 4 hours 11 minutes
The Prequel Trilogy First two films: 4 hours 38 minutes
The Sequel Trilogy First two films: 4 hours 47 minutes

So the sequel trilogy looks like its on board to being the longest trilogy with Episode 8 perhaps being the longest of all the films all together, even after Episode 9.

Lets have a look at the episodic films and see how they compare

A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back: +3
Return of the Jedi: +8
The Phantom Menace: +1
Attack of the Clones: +6
Revenge of the Sith: -2
The Force Awakens: -3
The Last Jedi: +13

So as you can see this is a huge increase, one we have never seen before.
It is 8 minutes longer than its predecessor, which is 2 minutes longer than its, which is 3 minutes longer that its, which is 1 minute longer than its, which is 1 minute longer than its, which is 1 minute longer than its, which is 7 minutes longer than its, which is 3 minutes longer than its, which is 30 minutes longer than its.

So if you count the Clone Wars, The Last Jedi claims the second biggest gap.
