So far it appears that the bookies are fairly convinced that the new companion will be an older male.
However the early favourite for the 13th Doctor was a man and well, that didn't quite end up that way.
Kris Marshall is long rumoured to be in the series. After he announced that he was leaving Death in Paradise everyone jumped on the wagon to pronounce he was the Doctor. The Mirror reported that he was going to be the Doctor. Then Jodie was revealed. Marshall was now of course a companion. The Doctor Who rumours don't die for him.
Until yesterday,
The Mirror had that Bradley Walsh, who of course has worked with Chibnall before on Law and Order: UK is the new companion. Now the mirror tend to be about 50/50 when it comes to Doctor Who news on whether they are right or not. The most prominent information they have delivered was the Davros child spoiler and the David Bradley spoiler. The Sun were the John Simm spoilers. The Mirror have been wrong too though stating that Kris Marshall was the new Doctor. However they have made this RUMOUR their headline page. On the front cover! They must be fairly convinced.
Personally I love both of the two suggested. I really like their performances in Death in Paradise and Law and Order UK.
There is another rumour that Nardole will be the companion alongside Kris Marshall who the sun claims is the new companion.
