Star Wars Celebrations are huge conventions discussing the future of Star Wars. Originally they would be spread out but since 2015, the celebrations have become annual.
Celebration I - Denever, Colorado, USA - 1999
Celebration II - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - 2002
Celebration III - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - 2005
Celebration IV - London, England, United Kingdom - 2007
Celebration V - Chiba, Japan - 2010
Celebration VI - Essen, Germany - 2013
Celebration VII - Anaheim, California, USA - 2015
Celebration VIII - London, England, United Kingdom - 2016
Celebration IX - Orlando, Florida, USA - 2017
As you can see the most recent Star Wars Celebration took place in this country for the second time, making us second in terms of host, after the United States who have currently host 4 and are scheduled for the 6th. London is joint first in terms of host city, with Indianapolis - who hosted two celebrations in a row.
The turn out is as followed:
Celebration I - 20,000
Celebration II - 75,000
Celebration III - 34,000
Celebration IV - 30,000
Celebration V - 32,000
Celebration VI - 30,000
Celebration VII - 50,000
Celebration VIII - 48,000
Originally, the Celebrations would be released in honour of something, e.g. a release of a film. Sing Disney has brought Star Wars, the franchise is set to many more releases yearly, therefore they have upped the celebrations for one every year.
I was lucky enough to go to Celebration VIII. I went on the Saturday where I saw the Anthony Daniels panel, the EA panel and Rebels Season 3 panel - where I saw the first two episodes before anyone else. :)
