Doctor Who Reviews Series 9 #12: The Final Continues: Heaven Sent

Heaven Sent by Steven Moaffat

Heaven Sent is the second of a three part story which serves as the final for Series 9. It features Peter Capaldi on his own and features the return of Gallifrey. The episode was longer at 55 minutes in length.

Series 9 has another attempt at a new concept, this time the Doctor on it' own. It wasn't perfect and quite confusing but the ending was very, very good.

Doctor Rating

Doctor Rating: 10/10

Absolute perfection

Enemy Rating

The Veil: 9/10

Creepy but the fact he kept on coming back to do the same thing each time was very repetitive.

Story Rating

Story: 8/10
Seriousness: 10/10
Scariness: 10/10
Continuity: 6/10
Humour: 3/10
Total: 37/50

Humour wasn't the intention so it isn't the episode's fault. Continuity is low because I thought they rapped the Hyprid story-arc to quickly.

Doctor Who Series 9 Reviews #11: Face the Raven: The Final Begins Part 1

Face the Raven by Sarah Dollard

Face the Raven is the 10th episode of the main run of Series 9. It is the first part of a three part final. It features a reappearance of Rigsy, Ashilda, Ood, Judoon, Cybermen, Silurians, Sontarans and Ice Warriors. It also features the death of Clara Osworld, who has been a companion since 2012.

This episode had a good idea and Clara's exit had such a big impact because it was done in a less epic way to usual, however it was not unexpected to me but many non-whovians, who did not watch the Graham Nortern Show would have been surprised.

Doctor Rating

12th Doctor: 10/10

Top acting from Peter Capaldi and he was written very well.

Companion Rating

Clara Osworld: 10/10

Jenna Coleman has really started to become Clara, shame that this was her final appearance.

Enemy Rating

The Raven: 8/10

A Good idea about an animal that eats souls through time and space but it was a raven which isn't the most scariest thing in the world.

Story Rating

Story: 8/10
Scariness: 6/10
Seriousness: 9/10
Humour: 7/10
Continuity: 7/10

Total: 37/50

The reason why Seriousness didn't have a full 10/10 is because it was not very serious until the end. Continuity, was graded lower than expected is because although they had many past enemies the cybermen being there made no sense especially when he was being chased by the raven.

Doctor Who Series 9 Reviews #'9: The Zygon Inversion

The Zygon Inversion by Steven Moaffat and Peter Harness

The concluding part of a two part adventure by Peter Harness, this time joined by Steven Moaffat. It features the return of the Zygons and the UNIT Team.

Last week I was blown away with the best episode since the 50th. This week's episode was still very good but was not at the same standard. However the result may be different my Ranking out of 10. Due to a lot of my scores not reflecting my actual feeling I will do a sheet of a score out of 10 at the end of the series.

Doctor Rating

12th Doctor: 9/10

He could get the full 10 if he was still quite "11th like"

Companion Rating

Clara Osworld: 7/10

Clara herself was not the greatest

Enemy Rating

Bonnie: 10/10
The Zygons: 6/10
Total: 16/20

Bonnie was exceptionally well acted by Jenna Coleman. The Zygons however were a bit underused.

Doctor Who: K9

Doctor Who has had many spin offs in its time but never before has it seen a film in theatres that is part of the Canon universe. Now Bob Baker who co-created K9 as well as writing for Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker has written a Film called K9: TimeQuake. The film will follow on from the K9 TV series that ran from 2009 to 2010. The film will be realised in 2017. Another creation of Bob Baker's will also be in the film, the fan favourite, Omega.

Doctor Who Series 9 Reviews #8: The Zygon Invasion

The Zygon Invasion by Peter Harness

The Zygon Invasion features the return of the Zygons, Kate Stewart, Jac and a version of Osgood. It follows on from Day of the Doctor with the Zygon-Human peace treaty and the effects of Missy killing a version of Osgood in Death in Heaven.

Peter Harness has returned with a much better script than his first Kill the Moon. This episode was the best episode since Day of the Doctor, which was the 50th
