Doctor Who Series 11 Reviews Update

I am terribly sorry that my reviews have been so slow. I have been bombarded with work as off late and the change of slot for the episodes to a Sunday have meant it is difficult to watch them.

I just wanted to let you all know that I haven't forgotten to watch Rosa onwards and hopefully at least a couple of reviews will be out by a months time.

Merry Christmas!

Doctor Who Series 11 - half way thoughs

First of all my sincere apologies for no review for three episodes now. They will be arriving. My brief thoughts were that Rosa was a good episode, Arachnids of the UK was unresolved and last nights was odd but alright.

We are half way through the series and quite frankly to sum it up I'm disappointed. Jodie is still trying to work out the role and so far has not been the greatest. There are too many companions that sometimes just don't do anything. As one Digital Spy user said, Graham and Yas haven't even spoken to each other. Look back and you realise that that is true.

The villains have taken a back seat as has the plot and both, on the most part are weak or average in idea but almost all are weak in execution (as in story to screenplay, not in terms of direction that has been superb).

The crux of the problem, and I am ashamed to say it, is Chris Chibnall. The writing needs to be improved so four weeks away from him might just up the series in my mind. I do apolgise to Chibnall who does have the second hardest job in the UK at the moment, behind Theresa May.

Comparing Series 11 to other modern who series highlights just how bad it is. Here is the combination of where we were at five episodes in for past series (bearing in mind they had more episodes before being half way)

Series 1: one 8, four 7s
Series 2: four 8s, one 7
Series 3: three 7s, two 6s
Series 4: two 8s, three 7s
Series 5: one 8, two 7s, two 6s
Series 6: three 8s, one 7, one 6
Series 7: two 8s, two 7s, one 6
Series 8: two 8s, two 7s, one 6
Series 9: two 8s, two 7s, one 5
Series 10: one 8, one 7, three 6s
Series 11: two 7s, two 6s, one 5

Obviously Series 11 is somewhat behind on a large front. All but series 3 had achieved an 8 at this stage of the series, with some that being the average score.

The argument of having 10 episodes of superb quality over 12 episodes of a mixed bag is ludicrous because we've had two good episodes, 2 average TV standard and one below bar.

In short Series 11 needs to up its gain!

Reviews will be materialising soon!

Doctor Who Series 11 Reviews of 'Rosa' and 'Arachnids of the UK' coming soon

I have not forgotten about the two most recent episodes of Doctor Who Series 11 and it is my intention to review them on here. I have seen them both for a first time but not a second, and in order to achieve fairness with other reviews I will wait until I have seen them for a second time before reviewing them.

A note that I will make at the end of the reviews all the same but to note here is that I have decided to move the score of 'The Ghost Monument' from a 6 to a 5 as in my opinion it is one of the worst episodes of the modern era.

Please keep refreshed for reviews for series 11 and much more to come.
