Doctor Who Order of the Series #1

Series 1 is a introduction to Doctor Who to a new audience. It is completely different format to the original series. Series were shorter, the companions had more of a centre stage, and the episodes were longer (with exception of Colin Baker's first series.

1. Dalek - Dalek is an amazing story. It was presumably created to make the Daleks more powerful. For the first time we were able to see what the sucker arm was able to do and we saw the daleks fly (although this was not the first time, many people forget that the Dalek first flew in it's third adventure in 1965, and the was introduced in 1985, but was missed by some viewers). I also feel that Dalek was to show what one dalek could do so the final would seem more excellent then it actually is from someone who has seen other mass Army Dalek stories, like Series 4's Stolen Earth/The Journey's End. Anyway it reintroduced the Doctor's oldest and deadliest enemy to a new audience.

2. The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances - Another really good story, with another good doctor who catchphrase "Are you my mummy". It is a really spooky story, better than The Unquiet Dead. I thought the idea of the story was really good as the real enemy is not an enemy at all, just future medical robots who first come across a boy who has been bombed, who had a gas mask. The story also introduces Captain Jack, good thing for some and a bad to others. I for one like Captain Jack.

3. Father's Day - Father's Day really shows what changing history can do. The Doctor once said "You can't rewrite history, not one line" Rose did not change any historical books but she did change some an essential moment in time. I like how the monster is really just a backing of the story and how the Doctor gets eaten by a raptor.

4. The End of the World - Not a loved story to many but I really like End of the World. Properly because there are a lots of aliens and how the earth blows up.

5. Rose - A Good introduction story to the new DoctorWho format. It also features the return of the Autons although they are more of a backing to the overall story, which is about Rose.

6. Aliens of London / World War Three - Two good stories to introduces a  good race of criminals, the Slitheen. Really good how the slitheen's spaceship crashes into Big Ben. This story does have a continuity area however. The 9th Doctor says he is 900 years old, however in time and the rani, with the 7th Doctor he stats that he and the Rani both have the same age of 953.

7. Bad Wolf / Parting of the Ways - The Final was not that spectacular. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had not seen the later Dalek Stories because there is so many Daleks, which we know are deadly because we know how much one Dalek can do from the episode "Dalek". It is a good conclusion to the Series Arc that is based around Bad Wolf. The Doctor regenerates in a knew style which has stuck with every time lord regeneration since.

8. The Long Game - The Long Game is long. Adam Mitchell is not a good companion (he was the first and only companion to be expelled from the TARDIS), however I like the story and I like the Editor.

9. The Unquiet Dead - Very frightening tale with Charles Dickens and Ghosts (while Gelths). The Gelth Zombies just want to use human bodies. The Doctor thinks it is fine as long as the humans are dead. The Gelth don't agree with this. Why is this tale so low? I don't really know I just don't like it.

10. Boom Town - Boom Town feels as if it is only there because the need a filler between the Empty Child / The Doctor Dances and the Season Final. I just don't like it how the Doctor has dinner with a Slitheen who somehow manged to survive the destruction of 10 Downing Street (however the Doctor also did). It makes me wonder if Blon Fel Forch Pasameer Day Slitheen also went in a cupboard. I do, however like the comedy between Jack and Micky.

Join me next tine for Series 2.
